Blumenthal Condemns Reported HHS Action to Allow Healthcare Providers to Discriminate Against Patients

[WASHINGTON, DC] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the statement below following reports that the Trump Administration is considering taking action that would allow healthcare providers to discriminate against patients based on their own, personal religious beliefs:

“These reports are deeply disturbing. Permitting providers to discriminate against patients in need of medical care merely for ideological reasons is simply wrong. If true, the Department of Health and Human Services’ action will have the very practical, very real effect of harming women, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and their constitutionally protected rights.”
