Blumenthal Attends Oval Office Signing Ceremony For Child Protection Act

Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) attended a signing ceremony in the Oval Office today with President Barack Obama for the signing of the Child Protection Act.

A photograph of the ceremony can be found on the Senator’s website here: http://www.blumenthal.senate.gov/imo/media/image/RB%20Bill%20Signing.jpg

Also pictured in the photograph are Representative Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.).

Cosponsored by Blumenthal, the Child Protection Act of 2012 cracks down on child pornography and sexual abuse by strengthening law enforcement’s ability to protect victims and witnesses and apprehend perpetrators.

“By increasing penalties and strengthening safeguards for victims and witnesses who help prosecute predators, this law confronts and combats one of the most despicable and dangerous crimes in America.  It was an honor to be present in the Oval Office today as President Obama signed the Child Protection Act into law.”
