Blumenthal Applauds House Passage of Continuing Resolution That Includes Funding for Columbia-Class Submarines

[HARTFORD, CT] – U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, today applauded the passage of the Continuing Resolution by the U.S. House of Representatives that includes a key provision to ensure that construction for the Columbia-class submarine is fully funded.

“I fought for this provision to assure that our submarine fleet would not be delayed or deterred by lack of a federal budget. A first-class, robust submarine fleet and nuclear deterrent requires this support for Columbia-class construction. Such Congressional action demonstrates strong support for the skilled, determined EB workers and supply chain businesses as well as our national defense. This effort was collaborative with my Connecticut colleagues,” said Blumenthal.

The Continuing Resolution now heads to the Senate for final passage.
