Blumenthal Applauds Decision to Ensure Full Preventative Care to Women

(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) today released the following statement in response to the Obama Administration’s decision to affirm the Affordable Care Act rule announced in August 2011, requiring employer purchased insurance plans to cover full preventative health care to women, including contraceptive services without additional cost:

"This decision affirms the President’s strong commitment to sound science and equitable health policy for women in Connecticut and across the country - ensuring that preventative care will be available to women at no additional cost. This is a powerful step forward to ensure that women have access to full health care services, regardless of their employer, so that they can make the best health choices for themselves and their families.
