Blumenthal and Murphy Introduce Connecticut District Judge Nominee Kari Dooley Before Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Today in a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) introduced Kari Dooley, the nominee to fill a vacancy on the U.S. District Court of Connecticut. Blumenthal and Murphy recommended Dooley’s nomination to the White House. Following today’s hearing, Dooley’s nomination is expected to receive a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee. If approved, her nomination will then receive a vote by the full Senate.

“Judge Dooley has a stellar reputation for integrity and intellect and fairness,” said Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. “We need good people on our bench to serve the people of the United States. These appointees are the most important that we make, because they become the voice and face of justice in America. District Court judges have a very profound public trust, and I’m very proud that we’ve nominated someone who fulfills that public trust.”

“Senator Blumenthal and I are very proud to help introduce to the Committee today Kari Dooley,” said Murphy at the hearing. “We were able to recommend Judge Dooley’s nomination to the White House after careful consideration of her extensive experience in civil and criminal matters, and her service to, and respect from, the people of Connecticut. She brings to this Committee and to the bench a unique set of skills – both having presided as a judge and as a prosecutor. I’m glad to have joined with Senator Blumenthal in working with the White House to forward you her nomination, and I hope that you act upon it favorably.”
