Blumenthal and Murphy Introduce Connecticut District Judge Nominee Kari Dooley Before Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Today in a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Chris Murphy (D-CT) introduced Kari Dooley, the nominee to fill a vacancy on the U.S. District Court of Connecticut. Blumenthal and Murphy recommended Dooley’s nomination to the White House. Following today’s hearing, Dooley’s nomination is expected to receive a vote in the Senate Judiciary Committee. If approved, her nomination will then receive a vote by the full Senate. 

“Judge Dooley has a stellar reputation for integrity and intellect and fairness,” said Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. “We need good people on our bench to serve the people of the United States. These appointees are the most important that we make, because they become the voice and face of justice in America. District Court judges have a very profound public trust, and I’m very proud that we’ve nominated someone who fulfills that public trust.”

Dooley has served as a Connecticut Superior Court Judge since 2004, where she has presided over approximately 70 criminal and civil trials. Prior to her current position, she served as a federal criminal prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut for twelve years, where she prosecuted a variety of criminal and federal offenses involving multiple cases involving sexual assault of minors, and multiple white collar fraud cases. Dooley served in the private practice of Whitman and Ransom in Greenwich, Connecticut, from 1988 to 1992. Dooley graduated from Cornell University and the University of Connecticut School of Law.
