(Washington, DC) – In a speech on the Senate floor, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) today called again for the Senate to approve legislation (S.1963) that would reverse the cost of living adjustment (COLA) reduction for military retirees that went into effect with the passage of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2013.
“Let us now urgently and immediately adopt Senate 1963, a simple and straightforward measure to restore justice to the federal pension system for military retirees. Let us not balance our budget on the backs of our brave veterans. Let us restore those pensions to the level that we promised and keep our promises as a nation to the military veterans who have kept our freedoms strong.”
