(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement today in response to a ruling by a federal judge to block the implementation of the graphic cigarette health warning labels that were approved by the Food and Drug Administration in June:
“This misguided ruling threatens to cripple critical progress toward effective health warnings on cigarette packages. Graphic labels, grounded in science, are crucial to informing consumers about addiction and disease caused by smoking. I will support action to reinstate these powerful warnings that help stop tobacco companies from luring children into lifetimes of addiction and serious health problems.”
