(Hartford, CT) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) stopped by a Target store in North Haven, CT and bought his favorite candy to commend Target Corporation on its recent decision to ask customers not to carry guns in its stores, including stores in states with open-carry laws. A picture of the shopping trip is attached and below.
“Today, I shopped at Target because it’s doing the right thing on guns,” Blumenthal said. “Target knows that the presence of guns in its stores is not consistent with providing parents and their children with a safe and secure place to shop. I applaud Target’s decision to change its approach to guns– a decision that reflects growing public support for gun safety across the country. Customers are no safer when they carry guns into Target, or any other store or restaurant.”
