Blumenthal Statement on President’s Job Address to Joint Session of Congress

(Washington, DC) – Senator Richard Blumenthal released the following statement tonight after President Obama addressed a joint session of Congress to propose the American Jobs Act:

“The President’s jobs proposal will be crucial to putting Americans back to work, helping small businesses grow, and strengthening our country’s infrastructure. I am encouraged that the President is putting job creation at the top of his agenda in this Administration. Congress must now act with a sense of urgency to address the unacceptably high unemployment rate, which is why I have proposed a bill in the Senate to create a Joint Select Committee on Job Creation, helping ensure that creating jobs, fostering economic growth, and reducing the high unemployment rate is at the top of the Senate’s agenda. People in Connecticut and across the country have long realized that the best way to shrink our deficit and put our economy back on track is to help hard-working Americans find good-paying jobs, and I look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get our economy moving again.”
