Blumenthal Praises DOT for Calling on Kuwait Airways to Cease Discrimination Against Israeli Citizens

(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) released the following statement on the U.S. Department of Transportation’s decision to call on Kuwait Airways to cease its discrimination against Israeli citizens following the Department’s investigation into the airline. In May, Blumenthal led a letter with five of his Senate colleagues calling on DOT to investigate purported – and now substantiated – practices.

“This is an important, critical first step toward ensuring that we stamp out unlawful and unconscionable discrimination from airlines that refuse to serve customers based solely on their nationality.  It is imperative that DOT maintains a strong, vigilant enforcement presence to ensure that Kuwait Airways immediately ends this shameful practice and faces robust fines and penalties for its actions.”
